Welcome to Ceria

Our Story

Our love for brewing great beer doesn’t stop at what’s been done before. Beer has always had an essential role in our culture at the center of celebrations, connections and even relaxation. Now, with the opening of markets and minds to the amazing experience of cannabis, we are marrying beautifully crafted beers with the magic of cannabis, proudly bringing into the mainstream an experience both happily familiar and entirely extraordinary.

Our Commitment

At CERIA we are committed to quality in everything we do. That’s why we set sky-high standards for our ingredients, our process and for the experience we deliver. We brew only the highest quality beers – always flavorful, always smooth and drinkable – and infuse them with a micro-dose of only the highest quality cannabis. For a reliable experience that lets you enjoy at your own pace, socially and responsibly.

As part of our commitment to a quality experience we request that you consume responsibly. Don’t drink and drive. It’s not safe, it’s not legal, and it’s definitely not worth it.

We’d love to hear about your quality experiences with CERIA. Hit us back with your thoughts and stories at hello@ceriabrewing.com.Asset 8musk.png

Our Brewing Process

We craft our beers using traditional, proven brewing techniques and high-quality malts, hops and spices for optimal flavor. Once we’ve arrived at the perfect liquid, we take the alcohol out and add the cannabis extract in, carefully metering to get an exact amount of THC in every beer and taking samples constantly to ensure the CERIA you are enjoying is an incredible tasting beer delivering an extraordinary experience every time.

CERIA Says Thanks at Denver’s Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum

Pre-4/20 Concert at the Hangar Attracts Hundreds

ARVADA, Colorado (April 24, 2019) – There were exhibits honoring the Apollo space program, a Huey helicopter from the Vietnam War, a B1 bomber, even a moon rock on display when Arvada-based CERIA Brewing Company, makers of Colorado’s first THC-infused beer, celebrated its success and said thanks to its consumers at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. The free live concert for fans of the craft beer was held on April 18, 2019, just two days before 4/20, the unofficial holiday celebrating marijuana.

Originally introduced at Colorado dispensaries in late December 2018, CERIA (rhymes with “area”) dealcoholized Belgian-style White Ale sold out within its first four hours. It has since become available in 116 dispensaries statewide, with plans to expand to Nevada and California by this fall. “To emphasize our leadership in bringing the magic of cannabis to beer, one of America’s favorite beverages, we came to a former Lowry Air Force Base hangar filled with priceless examples of the country’s leadership in aviation. It was an opportunity to thank our fans for helping make the brand such a great success,” said brewmaster Keith Villa, Ph.D., who, with his wife Jodi, co-founded the brand in January 2018; daughter Catherine is also involved in the company in a sales and marketing position. Villa is the former MillerCoors brewmaster who created Blue Moon, one of the country’s top 20 best-selling beers, according to Beer Marketer’s Insights.

Hundreds attended the CERIA Concert at the Hangar, drawn by musical talent
Z-Trip, Joseph Arthur, and Adam Deitch, and the opportunity to sample Grainwave. Discount cards were given to attendees for redemption at Colorado dispensaries.

Since its introduction, news about CERIA has gone viral, with major feature stories appearing in mainstream outlets including CBS News, Chicago Sun-Times, Denver Post, Forbes, New York Times, and USA Today, among others.

CERIA’s Grainwave is brewed as a beer with blood orange peel and coriander, then dealcoholized and infused with a microdosed 5 mg. of fast acting THC that leaves no cannabis flavor. Sixty-four calorie CERIA is currently available in limited edition 10 oz. (296 ml) aluminum bottles and four-pack cartons. A 10 mg. THC IPA, 2.5 mg. THC American Light Lager, and other versions are also in the works. THC is the key psychoactive ingredient from cannabis plants that affects how one feels by creating the unique sensation – the “high” – associated with marijuana.

CERIA releases a new non-alcoholic grainwave beer.

CERIA BREWING RESPONDS TO CONSUMER DEMAND FOR NON-ALCOHOLIC, NON-INFUSED CRAFT BEER

Grainwave NA Belgian White Ale Launches in Late Summer 2019

ARVADA, Colo. (July 22, 2019) - CERIA Brewing, the craft brewery that made history in December 2018 with Colorado's first THC-infused craft beer, today announced it will be entering the non-alcoholic (NA) beer market with non-infused Grainwave NA Belgian White Ale, which will be sold in 12-oz. aluminum cans. It will initially be available later this summer in Colorado before expanding into California and eventually nationwide and globally wherever NA beers are sold.

CERIA Brewing was co-founded by legendary brewmaster Keith Villa, Ph.D., and his wife and CEO Jodi Villa, both of Arvada, Colorado. Dr. Villa holds a Ph.D. in brewing science and fermentation biochemistry, one of the few such degrees bestowed in the world. He was the brewmaster of Blue Moon craft beer before he retired from MillerCoors in early 2018 after 32 years.

Current trends in the alcohol industry indicate that there has been a gradual, but steady shift toward low- and no-alcohol products.

"This dynamic is being driven by a combination of socially responsible millennials, aging consumers and women who are moderating their alcohol consumption," Dr. Villa says.

A recent example of this is the 26% increase in non-alcoholic beer volume in the U.S. over the Fourth of July 2019 holiday. These trends have been even more pronounced in Europe and the Middle East. In the U.S., it is expected that NA beer will grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of over 7% through 2025 according to Global Market Insights, versus minimal incremental growth across the rest of the beer category. This is projected to be even more pronounced for craft beer, with an expected CAGR of nearly 14% globally through 2025, according to Zion Market Research.

"For far too long, consumers have settled for, at best, mediocre-tasting NA products. But, recent entries are attempting to offer consumers alternatives and reasons to reconsider," said Dr. Villa.

"CERIA Grainwave NA, a spin on our THC-infused Belgian classic with about 75 calories, is a great tasting, refreshing, medium-bodied ale with no alcohol."

Dr. Villa continues, "With the objective of providing the finest non-alcohol THC-infused craft beer, our research, experimentation and development has resulted in a high quality, great tasting non-alcohol/non-infused product that serves as the base for our infused CERIA brand - to be enjoyed by consumers seeking high quality and great taste without alcohol."

Jodi Villa, CEO of CERIA Brewing adds, "After receiving rave reviews about the taste of CERIA's THC-infused beer, and witnessing the increased growth in non-alcoholic beers nationwide, especially among the self-described 'sober curious,' we saw an opportunity for a non-infused, non-alcoholic craft beer we could sell well beyond dispensaries, in fact anywhere NA beers are sold domestically or globally."

Additional beer styles, both infused with THC and non-infused, are being developed by CERIA and will be announced later this summer.

To create a more enjoyable beer-drinking experience, CERIA's entire line-up will be offered in 12-oz. cans.

CERIA Makes Colorado Beer History

CERIA MAKES COLORADO BEER HISTORY THROUGH DONATION TO PERMANENT COLLECTION OF HISTORY COLORADO CENTER

DE-ALCOHOLIZED WHITE ALE INFUSED WITH THC

New Cannabis Beer Rolls Out Mid-December to Colorado Dispensaries

ARVADA, Colo. (June 12, 2019) – When former Blue Moon Brewing Company brewmaster Keith Villa, Ph.D., retired from Coors after 32 years, he dreamed of making Colorado beer history with the state's first THC-infused craft beer. After a year in development, CERIA Brewing Company's CERIA (rhymes with "area") dealcoholized cannabis beer, a Belgian-style White Ale called Grainwave, sold out within its first four hours. It has since become available in 132 dispensaries statewide, with plans to expand to Nevada and California later this year.

Now Villa's cannabis brew has become a part of the permanent collection of the History Colorado Center, the Denver home of the state history museum. The museum is conducting a contemporary collecting initiative to document and preserve items related to Colorado's historic 2012 decision to legalize the private consumption of marijuana.

Through August 2020 the museum is also featuring Beer Here! Brewing the New West, a comprehensive exhibition tracking Colorado's cultural and economic changes through the evolution of its beer industry.

Recently, Villa, along with his wife, co-founder and CEO Jodi Villa, presented a four-pack of First Release Grainwave to James S. Peterson, Assistant Curator for Artifacts. The presentation included collateral material and imprinted premium items containing the brand's distinctive logo showing a modern interpretation of Ceres, the Roman goddess of the harvest, upon whose head sits a cannabis-leaf and hops crown.

Keith Villa remarked, "History Colorado Center's collecting initiative affirms what I've been thinking since leaving Coors in January 2018 - we really are making history with Grainwave."

As James Peterson donned white archivist gloves to accept the First Release Grainwave four-pack, he said, "This donation could help us tell a more inclusive, contemporary story about Colorado's $3 billion craft brewing industry - as well as its trailblazing cannabis industry. The CERIA four-pack has the potential to be a great addition to our collection."

Later in the year, Dr. Villa will participate in the museum's oral history project focusing on Colorado business leaders.
